Snow? In October?

Good thing our new x-country and snowshoeing book was released October 1st. Originally we thought that might be a little early, but Mother Nature said, "No." So she dumped as much as 20 inches of snow on our area on October 27th, just to reinforce the publication of our book. Well, that's MY story and I'm sticking to it.
To the right is a picture I took today in the Town of Day. It is proof positive that it has actually snowed in October.
Don't mess with Mother Nature! Buy our new book Now!

Bear season - take precautions

As winter closes in here in Northern New York, you may want to take extra precautions while in the woods. After all, those bears have to fatten up for the Winter by eating something.
Here's a warning sign. If you are over 40, click on the pic so you can read it.

Positive feedback

Just got this note from Sue at Footprint Press. They carry our NY books, as well as their own line of Western & Central NY books at www.FootprintPress.com.

I ran an article about your new book on my blog & one of my readers added this comment;

"I just returned from a trip to Lake George and used the 25 Short Hikes and Interesting Walks in the Lake George region by these same authors.
The best part was I didn't get lost! Directions to the trails where right on as were the trail descriptions.
I'm sure they are just as good for this new one for you snow sport fans. As they say, buy with confidence."

Mike and I both want to thank the writer for this kind comment. And thanks to Sue for forwarding it to us.

Fall foliage

It's still tough to get the right shot of the beautiful colors of the foliage year, but here is a shot from today along the Hudson River. Double click on the image to make it bigger and more colorful.

LARAC has them!

Okay, okay. I get it! You want to know who actually HAS the LG skiing/snowshoeing book in stock. LARAC has them in their gallery, across from the Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls. I know, I delivered them myself a few days ago.
All of the others listed on this blog also have them in stock. I delivered them to them, as well.
You can always get them from my webpage as well.
Thanks for all the support, especially so early in the season.
As always,
Roger

Brookside Museum, Ballston Spa, NY

The Brookside Museum is an historic hotel in Ballston Spa, NY that is now a museum. Few people know that the spa at Ballston Spa was a tourist and healing destination even before the more famous Saratoga Springs spas. But I digress.
The real point of this post is that the Brookside Museum is now handling ALL of our Saratoga/Lake George hiking, kayaking, skiing and historical sites titles. They are full service!
Please stop by for a great museum and our titles. They are located at 6 Charlton St., Ballston Spa, NY 12020, 518-885-4000, www.brooksidemuseum.org.

Frustration

I have tried to capture the absolute beauty of the Fall colors here in Northern New York to share with you on this Blog. The colors are there, and they are beatiful, gorgeous, awe-inspiring, but I can't get the perfect camera view to convey that. Y'all need to be here in person. The closest I can get is to share with you what I saw as I travelled by canoe up the Hudson River today. The leaves are only at about 70% of peak, but I find nature to be incredible, even at 70%. Click on the pic to get a larger view of this great sight.

Chestertown & Schroon Lake Dealers

I am often asked what stores carry our books. As of Today, The Crossroads General Store at Exit 25 (Chestertown) and the Adirondack General Store in Adirondack (Schroon Lake area) both are handling all of our Lake George area books in their book displays. Stop in and buy one and tell them we sent you.
