Where are We??????

It's not all fun and games out here! Here I am somewhere between the Hebron Nature Preserve and the Pember Nature Preserve. I'm wracking my brain, while Mike just snaps pictures. Shows who the brains of this outfit is! Or does it? Let's see I'm working my brain, and Mike is just snapping pictures of me wracking my brain. Hmmmmmmmm!
(Turns out that the same preserve goes under both names. Who knew?)

Newcomb, New York

Pronounced Nuke 'em, this is actually a very nice, out of the way place, that actually has some great snow and trails. And I'm exploring them in this photo at the Newcomb VIC (Visitors Interpretive Center)on 2/20/08. Those are snowshoes on my feet, for you Southern viewers. They keep me from sinking into the snow up to my knees, y'all.

Snowscape

Today we snowshoed into Inman Pond east of Lake George, NY. We wanted to check out this trail for our upcoming cross country skiing and snowshoeing book. The photo shown here is not a Norman Rockwell painting. It is the actual photo we shot of this beautiful snowscape. Wish you could have been there.

A Valentine Wish

This little fellow to the left would like to wish you a very happy Valentine's Day. He's cute and cuddly and he is the message. The guy on the right is just the messenger.
On behalf of both of us, Happy Valentines Day!

Florida hiatus

I'm back from a very short trip to Florida. While there we presented a program to the residents of John Knox Village in Orange City. It was one of our Powerpoint presentations titled, Hiking, Biking and Birding - Where to go and how to get there.
While there we also conducted an Eco-Tour out at the Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge for a group of about 22 people. We tallied about 30 species of birds and wildlife in a two hour tour which ended with a beautiful sunset on a beautiful day. The attached photo of that event is by Arnette Sherman of Deland, FL.
