200th anniversary Battle of Cranberry Creek

The Battle of Cranberry Creek was fought between American and British forces near Alexandria Bay, NY on this date some 200 years ago. The Americans drove off a superior force and retained captured supplies. Over the weekend I did a presentation on the battle and the repatriation of the Americans who died in that battle. It was held at the memorial site on the Swan Hollow Road in Alexandria Bay. Back in 2005 we wrote a small booklet about the battle. It is still available through the Town of Alexandria Historical Society located at Cornwall Brothers Store in Alexandria Bay.

New ordering options for Common Man Books

We have heard you! You want to deal directly with the author for ALL of our books - The NY and Florida hiking, biking and kayaking books and the Firetower Challenge book. Our regional retailers are great, but they only handle certain regional titles. So from now on you can order any or ALL of our books through my webpage: www.RogerFulton.com
Go to that page for all the info. Go to: http://rogerfulton.com/order-form.pdf for a printable order form. It's a mail-in form and we accept cash, checks or money orders as payment. I can even sign the books you order. Just tell me who you want it made out to and a short message like, Happy Trails or Happy Birthday, if you'd like.
Thanks for thinking about us as much as we think about you and your great outdoor adventures we help you enjoy.

NY State Parks - Free access

As I continue to research new trails in the Finger Lakes Region for future books, I keep forgetting that I don't generally have to pay for access to the trails in NY State Parks. And neither do you if you are over age 62!
The Golden Park Program allows NY State residents 62 years of age or older unlimited weekday and non-holidayaccess to all state parks by showing a NYS driver's license or non-driver identification.
So get out there weekdays and enjoy those parks! You've earned it!
